Sometimes I get jealous of my client's pictures.  This is one of those times!  

Beautiful people, gorgeous light...photographers dream about this kind of thing!

The In-Laws

Here's the whole gang!  These are my in-laws (don't we have a better word in the English language for this group of people?  It sounds like I am only bound to them BY LAW... like I'll go to jail if I dis-own them).  Anyway,  those of us who married into this family have a running joke that we "won the life lottery" when we joined this family!  And yes, it's true.  In the 15 years that I have been a part of the gang I have recognized more & more how lucky I truly am.  As the family has grown I've only felt even more blessed to be called an Oliverson.  Aw sucks,  I sure do love them!

Johnson Family

Everyone should take a lesson from these two parents... they absolutely ADORE their sweet boy.  He is so happy and it's easy to see why.  Each time I have photographed them I have left wanting to be a better parent.  Such a sweet loving family! 

Photography Lesson #1...

Are you a budding photographer looking for tips and tricks?  Well, here's one for you... 

Try your best to HOLD STILL while taking photos.  Seems like a no brainer right?  In fancy photography "terms" it's called camera shake.  Even your own breath or or heartbeat can make your camera move ever so slightly causing a blurry picture.   In my terms it's called, "This family was so fun they had me laughing through the whole session.  I was struggling to stop laughing long enough to capture the moment and hold my camera still!  Such a happy, fun-loving family!  Let me show you what I mean...

Sharp Extended Family Session

Here's a math story problem for you:  Q: What do you get when you combine 26 people, 13 of them under the age of 9 plus FREEZING temperatures?  A: Why, a beautiful family photo of course!!

I am still in awe of these little troopers.  You could take a group that big in gorgeous weather and for sure at least one of the little ones will be looking away or crying!... But NOT these kiddos!  They knew Grandma wanted a family picture and they were happy to oblige.  I absolutely have to give some credit to my crew behind the camera... They worked wonders while I snapped away.  Maybe the math problem should have been:

13 kids + freezing temps + silly string, dancing and whoopie cushions = lovely picture!

 Anyway, here is the whole Sharp gang!  A "Sharp" lookin' bunch if you ask me!   

Try to control your laughter people :)

Uh Oh, Someone's in Trouble...

And that "someone" would be Angie and Randy. In about 11 years they are going to have three BEAUTIFUL teenage girls!

I have loved having these sweet, pretty little faces in my lens and on my computer screen the last couple days.  Here are a few from their session.  I'll save the family shots for the Christmas card... beauties I tell ya!

I think I'm funny...

I don't know if others (Ryan) appreciate my sense of humor as much as I do. I'm sure a psychiatrist will someday say my love of humor and sarcasm is my way of hiding my deep-rooted pain and anguish (not really). But I just plain like it when things are light and fun and not too serious.  In fact, I avoid at all costs crying in public. "Someone" (Nikki) once told me I pull an ugly face when I cry...

ANYWAY... all this funny, not crying bit went FLYING out the stained glass window on a lovely day this summer when our good friends and neighbors invited us to their temple sealing. http://lds.org/temples/purpose/0,11298,1897-1,00.html They were being sealed to their 3 grown children. I tell you what... I even surprised myself... I think the last 17 years of avoiding crying all came gushing out at the same time! It was honestly one of the top 10 greatest experiences in my life. I love these people and was HONORED to be a part of their day.
